Last class

Hi there this is the last class of the semester and we are excited to finish it with the best attitude possible with the students who have been joining us all this time. So let's check a little bit of what we are about to learn in this class.

To start the class the teachers had a free activity, Hangman, that students used as a way of engaging with the class. Teachers started with the explanation of the Time, a little review of numbers, and then a practice. Teachers had also a review of there is and there are. There was a video played about a daily routine that involved all the topics like routines and the time. Then, students matched the time and wrote sentences on the paper given by the teachers.

During the second session there was a review of the time using first a clock and then teachers shared some vocabulary related to time that students could use. Then, some paper activities took place where students had to answer what was requested by the teacher. some paper scissor game and guessing activity was part of this class which I can say was very entertaining for all the participants and spectators. Now, the time of classes arrived.

Students were thanked for their participation in class with a small bags containing candies
and...

Mr. Orlando had some cookies and coffee for us all which we gladly appreciated and I can say as many of the other classmates that Mr. Orlando has been one of the greatest and coolest teachers we have had through the career. Thank you Mr. and belive us that we will have part of your time in our mind with that much knowledge.

I hope you liked all of these Entries we have had in this semester with great classes and experience being teachers and of course sharing great quality time with others.

2nd Round of Class: Groups 5 & 6

 Hi mates once again!

馃懡

This week we had groups 5 & 6 teaching. It was time for our group to give a great class to the students. So, let's get into it.

Group 5

We started the warm-up with Miriam having a dynamic activity using some "knots". It was for students to engage with teachers and create this confident environment. To start the topic, the teacher, this time it was me, started teaching the difference between a clock and a watch and move to a recall of numbers. The numbers were focused in the one used for the time (hours and minutes). Then students had a little practice with some clock to check out what they were learning by the time. Teacher, Maria, asked students to check down of their student desks a piece of paper that was taped. The paper has some questions and students would also answer what they see on the board related to the activity. Then, students will have a creative cardboard clock which helps them to point out the time and then share answers with their classmates. A group activity was done too, boys vs girls, that required students to guess the time. To conclude the class, teacher Miriam had an activity of Bingo, here students needed to play in groups and the teacher would give a paper with the first drawing, and the one who completes one line first would win.

It was a great class, though there were not that many students to share this lesson with but we enjoyed teaching and the few coming learned something new for sure.

Group 6

Group number 6 started with an intro to the topic of "there is" and "there are" in Spanish so that students could have an idea of the real use of it by asking the students themselves questions about something that there was in the classroom. Then, teachers moved on to explain the topic and even added how to use it not only in the present but past and future. Teachers were able to engage with students and have a neutral tone of voice and were able to explain or clarify any student's question. Once they were done with grammar and explanation it was time to practice what was taught students had the idea by giving some examples and later on had a quick practice on the board by writing some examples and another group of students would classify is it was singular, plural, future, past, or present. To end It up, they asked students what they learned and they remembered from the current class.

It was a good class too, I was able to participate as a student too, and help with the participation and so on.

This would be the last class we taught at the University, and the experience was very nice and we really enjoyed it, to even add that some students said the time flew when we had our intervention. This would be it so far and I will see you in two weeks because we have a holiday in-between.

Have a great time till next class!馃懡✌

2nd Round of Class: Group 3 & 4

Hello and welcome to this new Entry!

This time was the day for groups 3 and 4 to teach. The groups had some review of the last topics so that students could have reinforcement for this class and practice a bit more. So let's get started.

Group 3

In the warm-up, the teachers of group 3 started with a review of the simple present structure so that students could have a better and clearer idea of the class. Then, they presented two images, one on the right and the other on the left, students had to pick the image according to what the teacher said. Students could learn new vocabulary as well. They had a listening activity and answered some questions on a paper given and shared their answers with the class. It was time for a different practice so they had an oral interaction among students once asked about what they do on Xmas, birthdays, and so on. To conclude, the students created a routine by giving one sentence each, but they needed to stack every sentence of their classmates.

I can say it was a very good class. What I could see was that the lack of students affected the teachers to be more energetic and deliver an unforgettable class. Overall, they did very nice and the few students present learned a bit more.

Group 4

The second group of teachers started with a hot potato game where teachers asked students about what they do in a daily basis, making use of Spanish for students to be more conscious of the upcoming topic. They recalled the grammar structure for simple present followed by the vocabulary of the daily routine. Teachers played a video and students repeated the sentences said and showed in the video. One of the other activities was to mark True or False on paper   reading a story, next, they wrote their daily routine and described it with other classmates. Finally, they asked students what they learned in the class and say one new word for them.

A good class, teachers asked other classmates of career to join the class in that way they could have a better interaction the students feel more confident about being surrounded by other students.

And that is how we finished another day of being teachers, next week it is my team's turn so we are getting ready to deliver a great class. I will see you for the next Blog Entry!!馃懟

2nd Round of Class: Group 1 & 2

Welcome to one more class! This time we started with the second round.

This time we were assigned different topics for teaching and this week was about Daily Routines. It is now a better opportunity to teach more and motivate students to learn a bit more every day.

Group 1

The group started with a Charade activity that helped students to engage easily and lead a good environment with the class. The teachers began with the vocabulary about Daily routines along with Frequency Adverbs followed by a practice on paper about Adverbs. Then, the second practice involved student interaction using the frequency adverbs. Students later wrote their routines and shared them with the class. To end up with the class, teachers made a review of the daily routine.

It was a good class and students understood the topic and were able to develop each of the activities.

Group 2

The second started after a well-deserved break. For the warm-up, the teachers had a memory game about other's routines. They focused on grammar as the main method, they taught simple present in the negative form along with some practice. The highlight of this class was the game "Who Wants to be Millionaire" where students enjoyed the activity and were engaged in the practice along with some fun. The activity was created with wardwall which is a great platform for having interactions with students and learning. Finally, to close the class they played the game Tic Tac Toe focused in grammar which was a great idea.

It was a great interactional class. Students learned new things and enjoyed the class.

Fourth Class - Group 7th & 8th

Good to see you back here!

This week the last two groups participated as teachers, and I hope you like it.

Group 7

This time we had the chance to prepare and teach a class of listening. I started with the warm-up activity where students had some fun and learned at the same time. Then Maria taught briefly the numbers and practiced a little bit along with Miriam who had an interactive activity where students learned new vocabulary about the classroom objects. Then we had some listening activities delivered by Nathaly and Dani. One activity with an audio played by Dani where students had to write the numbers or classroom objects from the audio itself. Nathaly had a Student-Student activity that involved a role play that reinforced their listening to details. Finally, I ended the class with a wrap-up where students asked vocabulary to each other and reviewed what they learned.

We really enjoyed teaching this time and had a nice time with the students. It was joyful to retake the teaching path which I like very much connecting with people and knowing that you have the power to make a difference and be a reference in their lives is what you enjoy the most.

Group 8

After break time, the next group taught reading. Starting with Mauricio teaching a warm-up activity where the students had to place the correct order of the sentences. Then, started with the grammar explanation of the negative form of a verb and eventually a quick practice. One of the practices they had needed the students to ask each other, they had a reading activity first and shared their answers after. They practiced comprehension and ended up with a wrap-up asking students how they felt about the class and what they understood.

It was a good class since the teachers created a nice connection with students and great energy that helped to engage too.

Next week we continue with the classes and be aware of new topics coming soon!馃槑

Third Class - Group 5th & 6th

Here we are once again for a new week's Entry!

This week we had the class delivered by groups five and six teaching classroom objects, verb to be, and numbers.

Group 5

The group started with checking the vocabulary students knew about classroom objects, and with numbers too. The group started teaching numbers and the pronunciation of each. We can also count it as a review. They moved afterward to the practice where students learned how to ask for the phone number, ID number, and age. There was interaction in the classroom because students asked and practiced the learned topic. Followed by the little practice they had, students learned vocabulary about classroom objects and practiced some sentences. Finally, they had a practice on paper and then shared answers.

It was a good class since students now seemed to be more comfortable and engaged in the class since they have spent some more time together as students and the teachers have given them the chance to participate and so.

Group 6

The group started with a nice warm-up using an online quiz in which students had to guess the country where the image presented belonged. As the first activity, they taught the verb to be in the negative form so that students understand the use of NOT grammatically, along with some examples. So students practiced some sentences using the transformation method to implement what was just explained. Lastly, students had a practice on paper with a partner and shared what they answered, followed by the wrap-up making a recap of the day's learning.

It was a good class keeping students focused on the practice and explanation, especially the first activity which was sort of breathtaking of the typical topic introduction.

Second class - 3rd and 4th Group

I hope you are having an amazing day! It is Blog posting time.

This week we had the second class practice for our subject. There was a good number of attendance, lower than last week, but still very good to have a great class and learning time. So let's get the details of each class so that you have an idea of what really was like.

Group 3

The third group used listening as the teaching method for this first session. It was a recap of greeting, verb to be in affirmative, and spelling as topics learned last week. They started their warm-up by playing an audio while Students were given with a piece of paper which they would underline with the correct answer from the listening. Then they recalled the verb to be structure, in this activity they had a very good interaction with students. The team quickly reviewed the alphabet and continued with spelling practice. Followed by this they played a couple of audios and students had papers with the questions that they needed to answer, and even made a guessing activity. They finished asking students what they had learned about the class.

It was a good session of listening for the students and the group did good by interacting with students as much as they could. 馃槑

Group 4

The fourth group started with a circle made with students and with the hot potato activitiy they answered some questions. The group asked about ways to greet people and carried out a comprehension test. Once the activities finished they picked students to practice a conversation, it was a basic conversation guided and one free making use of the topics they learned. As a wrap-up, they played the hot potato and picked students to ask questions about what they learned in class and that is the way they finished this session.

There was a good interaction between the students and the teaching group. The students were able to understand most of the activities and enjoyed the two classes.
