Presentation - Practice - Production (PPP)

Hi there!

This time I am explaining to you the PPP which is a lesson planning framework that every teacher should implement in the class. So, I want to simplify them one by one. PPP stands for Presentation, Practice, and Production.

Presentation. This is the right time for the teacher to explain what the topic is, how to use it, and provide all the details. Here the teacher is able to answer any doubt about and explain it.

Practice. In the practice time, the teacher starts interacting with the students and vice versa. You can carry out some activities that involve the interaction of students with the topic that are learning and you have two types of practice, controlled practice (some activities that minimize the mistakes in students and that they have just optional answers) and free practice (where the teacher´s creativity will bright so that students challenge themselves to dive in the topic opened to make mistakes)

Production. The students will show what they have learned at this point, they go alone at this moment of the class. The mistakes are reduced because they should have been corrected through practice time.

👀😌😎

We also were taught that warm-up and wrap-up time can not exceed 5 minutes since they are very short activities. Something extremely important is that you split the class toward a student-centered production, meaning, the time for the production should be enough that Ss can interact with the topic for a longer period of time which stimulates the learning process of students.

This will do it, I know it is a shorter Entry but soon the class practice is on the way for this semester.

See you in the next Entry! Stay tuned!! 👽

Flexibility in Lesson Planing

Hi to you there and welcome to a new blog entry for this week. 😃

Early this week teacher Orlando asked us for coming a bit earlier so we could help Mrs. Brendaly to participate in the thesis project that graduating students are carrying out toward their final graduation. It was about a practice of Sight Translation which I had not practiced for a good long time, but it was nice to try again my knowledge and see if I could still do this type of interpretation. Then we completed a test with questions about the practice and how we felt about it. Then, we were ready for the Didactics class.

In class, Regina, of the fourth-year students, who has a long experience in interpreting and translation was willing to present how we should work out the quotation in our field. It was very informative since we did not completely know how we should really face a client and how to do it in future work. She gave a whole good presentation about interpretations and so. I think that it is good to have someone with vast experience so we have an idea of the field and what it takes in the future. It is not my goal since I have my own project but still, it was a great informative presentation. We never know when we are needing this information.

The teacher Orlando was able to explain a bit about the objectives and how to work these ones in the class because, from our objective of the class, we can identify time management and how we can involve the class in the topic. It is essential that at the end of the class we should know if we achieved our objective that was planned since the very beginning of the class. 😎😌

At the of the week, on Friday and Saturday, some of us attended to TeachersUp conference. It is a group of English teachers here in El Salvador that I did not know existed at all, but it was very interesting to go and meet some teachers of our country. I wanted to go looking forward to implementing and adapting ideas to my future English classes of my project which I did. We met the founders of TeachersUp and we shared time with many people who have been doing laborious work as teachers and how passionate they are with teaching. We had different events and presentations from experienced teachers, and that is where I got great ideas to teach.

An amazing experience that I am sure I can attend one more time and I would love to invite more people to have the same experience and have new knowledge about teaching English. Here I leave some pictures of the event, of course, the best pictures ever captured.

Hope you liked this Entry and see you soon. Classes are on their way!
